sacai x Nike: From Monochrome Neutrals to Popping Retro

When Nike first collaborated with sacai four years ago, they knew they were history in the making. Several collections later, sacai x Nike is still going strong, with Chitose Abe’s Blazer/Dunk mashup and LDWaffles taking the sneaker world by storm. We took a look into Nike x sacai’s collaboration this season so you can cop your favourite kicks.

Blazer with Dunk

The “Blazer with Dunk” layered silhouette was first unveiled during sacai’s SS19 runway presentation, captivating fans with its doubled Swooshes, laces, vamps, midsoles and tongues. First released in striking black/blue and wild yellow/red colourways, it seems as though the colder weather brings in more neutral colours— the latest black and white Blazer duets showcase muted hues, with slight hints of colour coming from the exposed yellow foam tongue.

LDWaffles

We don’t blame you if you only have your eyes on LDWaffles. Abe truly laid out her vision in this collab and the shoes’ popularity can be proven solely from the resale charts. After the Japanese brand previewed the kicks during Paris Fashion Week, the highlighter “Green Gusto”  and “Varsity Blue” were introduced, followed by the second set of LDWaffles in three colour schemes: monochrome “Black Anthracite”, “Summit White” and the multicoloured “Pine Green” with hot pink detailing.

Made with a breathable mesh upper, suede overlay, double-layered tongue, stacked laces and the iconic extended sole, the LDWaffle possesses a silhouette blending the DayBreak and Waffle Runner, effectively creating the most aesthetically charming and sought-out pair of kicks the sacai and Nike collaboration has ever created.

If you’re more of a single colour type of person, keep your eyes peeled for the rumoured triple white and triple black sacai x Nike LDWaffle drops that’s said to be released during the first quarter of 2020. In the meantime, we’ll be watching out for new releases here.
